Harry Potter:"Do you really think there's going to be a war, Sirius?"
Sirius Black: "It… feels like it did before."
TURN ON THE LIGHT is a Post- Potter roleplay that takes place twenty-five years after the Second Wizarding War.
We welcome canon and original characters in this (currently) sandbox style roleplay.
A smirk came to her face. Nate was so modest, excellent quality to see in someone. Most people she came upon lately seemed very boastful, which was not wrong in her mind, but it was a bit of fresh air to see someone be modest. However, Sally did wish he knew how excellent and successful a person he was, even if he was downplaying it. "Well, even so, she made a wonderful human being." She looked down and back up at him
Nate was cute when he smiled, Sally thought, something she felt she should not have been thinking. A soft chuckle came to her lips. "Working your way around that so elegantly." Nate did have a way with his words. Even when he wasn't trying to be charming, he was.
Sally did know why she had so intently looked into his eyes. Of course, they were soft and kind-looking, and something about them comforted her; maybe they made her feel safe. She shook off the feeling and turned her attention to the things on the table.
Once again, her cheeks turned red when he had noted about his heart. Her eyes had met his once more. She wondered what he was going to say next. "Oh yea, the cup." She looked down and read on to him. Hoping he was happy with his reading. "Well, maybe a promotion is an unsuspecting change. But I am sure you will find out in due time." She smiled at him.
When he asked her to read herself, she shook her head. "Oh no, no, I don't read my fortunes. It can bring a reader bad luck." A soft smile came to her face. She was not one to read her fortune; it had scared her to do so.

"Well, even so, she made a wonderful human being."
"Yes, well..." Had it suddenly just become profusely warm outside or was it just him? His cheeks burned red mirroring the light ginger tint in his hair and with a thin lipped, closed mouth smile that he couldn't shake he looked down at his tea bashfully. It seemed that no matter how old you got, having a pretty girl compliment you (if that's in fact what she was doing) never got any easier and one always looked like an idiot when accepting it. He wasn't sure if the blush had come from her kind words or the way she was looking at him at the current moment - most likely a concoction of both.
"I guess we shall see what my future has in store officially but it is nice to have a bit of a heads up." Nathaniel offered gently, still maintaining his encouraging nature that he brought with him into every classroom. He somehow doubted that the promotion was true (little did he know it very much was) but perhaps the milk had clouded the tea and got in the way of Sally's vision. It could happen to anyone! Still, he wasn't about to say that and dampen her sails. He *never* wanted to be the one to do that to her. Not ever, And he would wad of anyone whoever threatened to. He was protective of all of his former students of course but Sally Byrne especially.
"Ah. Then we wouldn't want that." Bad luck for him sure, for others? No thanks. The former Charms Professor would very much like to stay away from that if he could help it. It was then that he had a thought, one that he thought better of, but before he could fully push it back the quiet, hesitant words left his mouth and hung in the air. "I could..." Uh oh. His cheeks were tinting a light shade of pink again. "Read yours... If you would like..." Gosh, he must have looked like some besotted old fool... Mainly because he was. "I do not have a whole lot of experience but I could do with a bit of a refresher. I believe that I remember a little bit here and there from Madame Trelawney's days..." The woman had been young then, just starting out as a teacher, but never the less just as zany as others would remember her.
"...If you would like?" What was he saying? Surely she didn't. Old fool, indeed.
"That's what's so nice up Divination. It sometimes helps guide us on our journey, especially when we feel lost." It was why she had gotten into her field. Doing this had also brought peace of mind to people, while others would say this was a fool's game. But if it did bring peace to people, she did not care what others had to say.
Sally placed her hands in her lap and rubbed them together nervously. It was always challenging talking about bad luck. If there was something Sally was, it was superstitious. Well, not everything was superstitious, but when it came to reading one's future, she wasn't a big fan of it.
An earnest smile came to her face as the man in front of her seemed nervous, asking if he could read her tea leaves. Nathaniel was quite cute when he was nervous. Not that she wanted to make him nervous or anything, but there was something so attractive when he seemed this way. Not that Sally would ever admit that to anyone. Not even Leah.
As soon as he finished asking, she smiled and pushed her cup towards him. "I would love a reading from you, Nathaniel." Sally was looking forward to seeing his skills tested. "I'm sure you'll do wonderful. As you always do"

Lost. Now there was a thought. He felt the urge then to check in with her. Being lost was rarely a good thing and instantly he was filled with concern for her. As a former student, as a coworker, as a woman... He probably shouldn't go further down that rabbit hole. For a former auror he was certainly flirting with danger - and he didn't have much experience flirting with anything or anyone at all!
"There is a black cat that frequents Hagrid's old hut." The English man offered with a bit of a smile, happy to relay this info. "At least I believe that it is a cat. I certainly have not seen it transform into something else." One always had to be careful when magic was involved. "I actually humored taking it in as it is extremely friendly but I decided against it as I did not wish for you to judge me for it. Bad luck and all. Scraps as well but that has nothing to do with luck unless you count the misfortune that he is a dog and it is almost expected of him not to be a fan." Cats and dogs. Tale as old as time. Nathaniel didn't know who first decided this rule of nature but it had been that way ever since.
"Oh. I-" His words were filled with surprise and cut off when the tea cup was slid toward him. He didn't know why it caught him off guard. He had offered to do so, albeit awkwardly. "You are giving me far too much credit I am afraid. Right. Hm..." Pulling it in front of him he turned to look down at the contents. "Lets see..." It had been quite a while, and he was no Sally Byrne, but he also wanted to show her how much he knew (which wasn't a whole lot but possibly more than any man she might be seeing - wait, WHAT?!). "I do not have a pair of scissors or a key so we will have to do the beginner's version." He studied the cup contents closely. "I see..." Arrows. Wait. Wasn't that bad? Swallowing it down he shut his eyes for a moment and lied without looking at her. "An anchor..." Giving the cup an intentional swirl to ruin the image he then slid it back to Sally looking over at her. "From my recollection, that is good, is it not?" Too bad it's not what he saw.
