THE CHARACTER
What can be said about will other than he is an asshole. In truth, he's not, but he certainly comes off that way. He lost the love of his life a few years ago and hasn’t been himself since. Those who knew him before would tell you he was the best kind of man. He always smiled or tried to make others smile, and he was always there for people. Some could even evilly say that his wife's death evened him out since it was always hard to stay as perfect as one appeared.
He met Caroline after she moved to the UK and started working at the Ministry of Magic. When he first saw her, he was beside himself, though it took him about a year to work up the courage to ask her out. He might have always come off as confident, but he was far from it when it came to women. They dated for a few years before he proposed to her, and they were married in a small private ceremony a few months later.
He worked in the Ministry's International Magical Cooperation as a lawyer while Caroline worked in the Magical Education office. They lived comfortably and didn't need much more, though they had occasionally talked about having children. It never happened for them, though; in the end, Caroline couldn’t have children and they just never got around to adopting.
Years passed, and they were both content with their lives. Still, they never adopted, but that was for the best. In the early months of 2020, Caroline fell ill. When she went to St. Mungo's for treatment, they deemed that she had some rare form of a disease that the magical community had not seen in many years. How she got it, or why, was and still is a mystery to him, but what could he do? there was no known cure, not even back then, and the doctors tried to save her, but to no avail.
With a heavy heart, Fitz buried his wife on the tenth anniversary of their wedding day (how ironic). After that, he withdrew into himself and became a shell of the man he'd once been. He became more irritable and stubborn, and an all-around asshole to most people. He began to drink a lot too, which is never a good thing. He needed to get his act together and get back into the swing of life, though. He will eventually get out of this funk, but he's not looking for it to happen anytime soon. he hasn’t let his work suffer, though; in fact, he's probably spent more time at work than he ever has, since he had nothing to go home to anymore.
And, now, he is off for another adventure in his life. He's starting a new position with the Magical congress in America. It'll be a major change for him, but he is hoping that this is what he needs to get him out of his funk.
