THE CHARACTER
Quidditch is the best sport ever. Odie Harmon has always believed that and will likely continue to believe it until she is old and gray. She grew up watching and playing Quidditch; her father was a professional player for the Montrose Magpies, a legend known by many. She got her first toy broom when she was four, much to the dismay of her mother.
Unfortunately, her mother passed away when she was eight from an accident at work (she worked with potions/alchemy at St. Mungo's), which left her father to raise her alone. That naturally meant she travelled with the team and received all sorts of educational training from her father and his teammates. When she turned eleven, however, her traveling days with the Magpies ended and she was off to Hogwarts.
She tried out for the team her first year, but didn't make it – not many first years did. She wouldn't be deterred, though; she would try out every year until she made the team in her third year as a reserve. She got her shot halfway through that year when one of the Beaters got injured in a class and was unable to play their next house match. Odie did so well that she retained that position until the day of her last house match in her seventh year.
Right out of Hogwarts, she was drafted by the Appleby Arrows and would play for them until she retired from the sport in 2018 due to an injury that left her partially blind in her left eye. Bludgers will do that to you, she'd say. And she won't let anyone tell her differently. She took up a position at the Ministry of Magic in the magical games and sports department. Her fame within the sport gave her leave to rise within the ranks at the Ministry fairly quickly, until she was appointed the head of the department in late 2022. She's been in that role for only a few months, but has made huge waves thus far. She'll be damned if the sport and league she loves so much goes down in flames under her watch.
