THE CHARACTER

HISTORY:

Taj was born the second eldest of six in Wales to a Welsh mother and an Australian father, the latter of whom Taj can only assume got incredibly lost on his way to the market one day. His father must have realized his mistake, because the family did eventually move back to Australia. There Taj was allowed to frolic in the sunshine and cause a ruckus with his siblings. Alas, the sunburns and skinned knees of childhood must eventually come to an end. Taj wanted adventure in the great wide somewhere and, when his Hogwarts letter came in, he was thrilled to get the opportunity. Other than spending years dreading the coming winters, Taj’s Hogwarts career was fairly uninteresting. He was sorted into Gryffindor and did well enough academically to retain his spot on the Quidditch team in later years. After graduation, Taj was offered a spot on a professional Quidditch team and had a fairly successful career, enjoying a life of competition, travel, and freedom.

A few years into his Quidditch career, Taj found out that a friend-from-school turned fling had produced a son called Billy. Being a young Quidditch star and fairly wrapped up in himself, Taj did what he could for the lad. Sporadic visits when the season allowed it, big gifts, and fun weekends with dad, all to make up for the fact that Taj really wasn't around to be a stable influence in Billy's life. He loved nothing more than coming in like a hurricane, having fun dad moments, and then whirling back out again to play his silly little ball game. He wasn't necessarily "absent," always checking in on Billy and his mom when he could, but he wasn't parading around his "world's best dad" mug either.

Taj left the sporting world about six years ago to explore other options as he got older and decided to apply to the Hit Wizard program. He’s not the best at always thinking things through but he has a keen eye for his surroundings, a mind for combat tactics, and the ability to learn on the go, which has kept him alive so far. Fingers crossed!

The career change has left him in a more stable position in life, allowing him to hunker down in one place and be around for his kid more. This has culminated in Billy's taking up residence in Taj's house after graduation, leaving the two men to become more acquainted with each other, for better or worse.


PERSONALITY:

Taj is a laid-back, loyal, friendly lad who greets everybody with a bright smile and pint of beer. Taj loves a good time and will do anything to make his friends laugh, both of which have the potential to lead him into ridiculous situations that usually end with him either missing a shoe or an eyebrow. Or both, if it’s been a really cool night. He’d happily wake up face down in the sand with a sunburn and no recollection of how he got there, if it meant he had a fun story to tell. Taj comes off as loud and carefree, but has a knack for matching the vibes of whoever he’s with. Quiet and introverted? He can be quiet! He can chill in silence! It might drive him bananas after a while, but he’ll make the effort for his friends. To quote the prophets at Olive Garden, “when you’re here, you’re family.” Anybody Taj loves gets adopted into the little family he’s been piecing together for years. Protective big brother energy oozes from this dude’s pores, so he might as well make use of it.

For all his ridiculousness, Taj can be serious when necessary. He cares about doing his job well and, while he’ll crack a joke and generally be in good spirits during missions, his coworkers know they can count on him when the time comes.

Natural talent has gotten Taj far in life and, though it’s died down considerably over the years, he still retains a bit of a cocky streak from it. He’s been known to get himself in into sticky situations due to overconfidence but always manages to luck his way back out, which does not help in the slightest. Perhaps one day he’ll learn a lesson, but not today baby!

Taj spent most of his adult life thus far focusing on work, especially during his Quidditch days, and shirking other responsibilities. This behavior is most evident in the way he interacted with his son as a child. As a more fully formed adult, Taj is keenly aware of all the missed time and does what he can to make up for the follies of youth.
