Grand Opening! Welcome to the Site!
Harry Potter:"Do you really think there's going to be a war, Sirius?"
Sirius Black: "It… feels like it did before."
TURN ON THE LIGHT is a Post- Potter roleplay that takes place twenty-five years after the Second Wizarding War.
We welcome canon and original characters in this (currently) sandbox style roleplay.
"That never gets any easier." She made a sickly gulp, pressing her hands to her stomach and their mouth as they appeared in an alleyway after apparating. Leah was absolute rubbish at magic but luckily Rawiri was pretty darned good at it and had no issue with sharing his abilities for two. Which was a good thing, mainly because Leah was likely to accidentally blow them both up. She was skilled on a broom but a wand? She was pretty screwed.
"Give a girl some warning next time, would ya?" He had promised to steal her away for dinner and fun two weeks prior and truthfully Leah had assumed it had been something he had said offhandedly not actually meaning it (like so many of his comments in the past when they were younger). Rawiri just said things for a reaction, consequences be damned. In that way they were more alike than she would care to admit. In others they were like oil and water. He hadn't just promised her in person though, since giving his speech to the young students, they had kept in touch via owl something she had tried to hide from Sally but the once Hufflepuff ended up finding out anyhow... Nosy lady that she was. Still, the letters were harmless. Catchups about their days, vague as all heck. Ultimately mundane... then why did she get so excited each and every time she got one?
"You know, you're gonna be in a whole lot of trouble for this." She offered as they began to walk her red converse sneakers moving against tile giving him a wry little smile trying to lighten the mood but also her nerves. "Comparative to all of the other times you've been in a lot of trouble - which is saying something." She was trying so hard to joke and be sarcastic if only to hide how anxious that she felt. How badly she wanted to hide fretting over what to wear which was something she never ever did. How she borrowed a skirt from Sally because she insisted her shirt and pants weren't dressy enough (they compromised on a mix of both). Something dressy but not dressy enough to look like she actually put in effort because she was fretting over what he would think. She even had attempted makeup! Sort of... Ugh. She probably looked stupid.
"So where are we anyways-" Her words cut short as they rounded the corner and she put it together. Muggles. Muggle buildings. No magic. Technology. "You brought me here?" She turned to him, excitement and surprise in her eyes. There was no masking it behind bravado. "The muggle world?" It had been so long. Home. Sort of. At least in the same realm. As close as she had ever been in recent memory.
"Thank you!" She exclaimed throwing herself on the taller man in a hug without thinking, caught up in her own excitement. She gaze him a squeeze before her eyes popped up realizing what she had done. As quick as the hug had come it was done and she took a step back looking away nervously, pulling at her shirts and fixing her fabric fingerless gloves. "Uh sorry... I uh..." Her whole body burned but it wasn't unpleasant. Still... She didn't hug. Not unless it was after a game win. This was just... This was... She didn't even know. "It's just been a while. Sorry." Welp, off to a great start.
TAG: RAWIRI TIBBLE //NOTES: Gosh I already super duper adore them! <3
A promise was a promise, after all. Rawiri had told Leah he was going to sneak her out, and he was going to keep to his word. After the day at Hogwarts, Rawirir could not stop thinking about Leah and how things had started to change between them.
"Surely it does well if you do it to get away from people alot." Rawiri was used to apparating, and he had done it many times to get away from fans or people he didn't want to listen to like his couches.
Rawirir let out a laugh. "I like surprise makes things way more fun, don't you think." He nudged her arm, playing around with her. He wondered how the night was going to go with Leah. Would it be a mistake and they would kill each other by the end, or would there be something more. Rawiri was excited to find out.
Shrugging his shoulder, Rawiri was not concerned about getting in trouble, and he lived life in the fast lane. Well, that's what Rawirir liked to say. "What is fun about life if you don't break the rules, Silvias." He gave her a smirk as she started to walk. "Exactly." He laughed, agreeing with her. Being in trouble was just something Rawiri had gotten used to.
Rawiri loved her excitement. She was adorable, and he thought as he saw the excitement and surprise in her eyes. Those eyes, too, were quite a surprise to how beautiful they were to Rawiri. No, no, hold back, Rawiri. You can't develop more of this feeling than you did at Hogwarts. This is not a date!
He smiled at her, then looked down and scratched his eyebrow. "I thought you like it to remind you of home, and also, it's a good spot not to get spotted by anyone. We're just ordinary people here." He looked back at her, smiling. The next thing she was in his arm. He paused, red coming up on his face. He slowed and placed his hand around her, taking in the perfume she was wearing. She smelled lovely.
"That's ok, and I'm used to people jumping in my arms. Quidditch Star, after all," Rawiri joked about making her feel at ease. He never expected her to hug him...ever. "It ok I promise I wouldn't tell anyone that the great Silvias hugged Rawiri Tibble. " He winked at her. "Well, I am glad I took you here then. You can show me around. I don't come very often after I was raised by pureblood." His family never adventure out to the muggle world, and he didn't know much. Maybe Silvias would show him the ropes.
Leah seemed quite different tonight, to his surprise. Rawiri was super surprised to see her wearing a skirt, and he never thought he had seen her in any type dress or skirt. And the red converse, Rawiri was pretty digging them on her. "You look quite nice tonight to go out with old Tibble. Loving the Dorthy shoes" he joked with her trying to ease his nerves about how great she looked.
"Sometimes I wish I was a little better at the whole magic thing." She admitted, surprised by her own casual openness with him about this one (pretty big) shortcoming. "The getting away thing would have been handy a few times." Quite a few. Escaping fans, uncomfortable situations, life... If only she had applied herself in classes instead of having a one-track Quidditch-ridden mind. Wait a second - no way did she feel that way. That would have meant she was responsible. That would have meant there was more to life than the sport her whole world revolved around and that, quite simply, could not be so.
"I'm actually not much of one for surprises." She told him, arms crossing over her chest at the thought. Her fingers absentmindedly traced where he had playfully nudged her. "I never get good ones." She continued glumly. Most of her surprises were being nearly hounded by press in hiding, overzealous fans, and oh yeah - people trying to kill her because she was a muggleborn. Not really fun things. "Oh." Catching herself in making the mood a little too dour she took a sharp inhale of cool air and turned to face him, plastering on a smile as she muscled through. "Not this one though. This one is ok." And holy sh**. She actually meant it.
"Yes well, you do have a knack for it." Normally something she would have nagged him about but today, for some strange reason, things were different. Today it was a compliment - and a fond one. "So-" Deep down she wasn't sure if she should finish her sentence but, as she was Leah Silvias, she knew she must. "Are you always this fly by the seat of your pants sort of guy you were since Hogwarts. The whole captivating, well-to-do, devil may care thing is nice and all but is there, I dunno, more?" If there was why the heck did she care? After the words left her mouth she sucked in her cheeks, embarrassed by some of the words she chose to use and feeling the need to instantly cover them right up. "Captivating obviously being a word that others have used. Not me. I mean, like, duh..." She quickly looked away pretending to scoff it up. Inside she was horrified.
Home. So he had thought about her. What she may have wanted? Furthermore, he had actually known something about her which meant he listened. He cared? No she was reading far too into this. "That's... actually really nice." That was an understatement. Still she knew she must tread carefully here. "So youdo pay attention sometimes." Leah lightly teased him, this time it was her turn to give him a little nudge leaning her body against his in the hug which she soon broke away from. Awkward. So very awkward.
He cleaned up rather nice with his spiffy white jacket and black bowtie. Go figure. As much as he claimed they were going to 'fly under the radar' he couldn't resist the urge to stand out in his own elfin way. It was so typically Rawiri Tibble except that nowadays, recently, it didn't seem to rub Leah the wrong way as much. Peculiar that... Just as peculiar as the blush of red she swore she could see on his features and the way she swore she could still feel his arm around her even though he had long let go. Credit went to him though for one his jokey remarks instantly resetting the mood. Yes, jabs. There was where they were most comfortable. She dare not go anywhere else.
"Of course you are." She rolled her eyes. "And I'll have you know it wasn't a jump." Except that it very much was. And she kind of wished she had stayed where she was. NO. Down thoughts! Down! Had she ever done it before though? Maybe once in school... But that had been ages ago. There were other protrusive memories of little moments from the past, ones long forgotten or pushed down, and once more she pushed them deep. "You better. If it gets out I'll have to hunt you down." A dark joke, but one they both seemed to understand as they began to walk.
"How often do you come here? To the muggle world, I mean." She asked as they turned a corner from the alley onto the street joining the muggle folks walking to and from their destinations. It thrilled her. "It's actually very similar to the magical one except... No magic. Not the kind you know anyways." She gave him a bit of a smile and then gasped as her eye caught something. "C'mere." And she was off, but only after grabbing him by the wrist and quite literally dragging him to the store window where a large 55-inch tv played quickly apace images. "Like this." She released him beaming with pride and excitement. "Remember this from Professor Dumas' class?" Hell, she was shocked that she remembered what dear Lucien had talked about. She barely remembered days previous. "Or those-" She pointed to a speakers set also on display.
Placing both fingerless gloved hands on the glass she watched the television screen for a moment, biting her bottom lip taken back to a different time. "When I was kid I would watch all sorts of movies with my dad. Old ones. Black and white. Casablanca, The Elephant Man, City Lights, Paper Moon. Classics, really. He loved those... Loves." She corrected herself with a bit of a forlorn frown. He was very much still alive, to her knowledge, and it was tough to not be able to see him. Swallowing down any sadness she put on a brave face and turned back to face Rawiri with a hopeful look. "What's your family like?" And hopefully they wouldn't loathe him for spending time with a... mudblood.
TAG: RAWIRI TIBBLE //NOTES: I'm sorry that it's long. They're so cute and I couldn't help it.
"I'm sure you're good. You did past all your class to graduate." Rawiri told her to confront her, and he wondered why she was so hard on herself. "Oh ya, sure helpful, especially having to get away from the crazy fans." He joked with her. The number of times Rawiri had to run for it from fans was quite frequent when he was a young star. It seemed to lighten up a bit with coaching, which Rawiri did not mind.
Rawiri smiled back at Leah when she mentioned that this was one surprise that had worked out for her. "Glad I proved you wrong then." He winked at her, joking, and he was glad he was the first person to show Leah a good surprise. "It's nice to know I am good at surprises then if I made you happy." Rawiri couldn't help but smile at her now, especially since she was smiling. He had never seen her smile so much before, and it made him feel happy that she was in a good mood.
"Is that a compliment, Silvias?" He was pretty taken aback by that. "I feel honored that I got a real compliment from the great Leah Silvias." He let out a chuckle surprised that for the first time since knowing each other, he got a genuine compliment from her.
"How about you find out and tell me by the end night?" Even though Rawiri could still be the same old Gryffindor from school, he did change as he got older. He wasn't just always silly, carefree Rawiri. "Are you sure you never used that word for me? I know I say I am captivated by myself sometimes." He, of course, joked with her that was old school Rawiri for you.
"Oh." He lifted his arm to rub the back of his head as his cheeks filled with red. "Sometimes I can be a nice guy." He placed his hand down and smiled again at her. When she nudged him and mentioned that he paid attention, he smiled and tilted his head to the side a bit. "Sometimes, I can't help but study people. After all, it's what I do for a living." It was his excuse he was telling her. After all, he wasn't going to say he was captive by how she looked. That was stubborn Rawiri, who did not want to admit that he actually might be falling for a person for the first time in his life.
"No promises" He smiled, putting his hand up in the air. He hoped nothing would get out. After all, who would know that he was going to the muggle world for the night? Someone would have to be stalking him at that point. He could see the headlines now. Nate would kill him too. So in high hopes, he hopes he could keep this night out with Leah a secret. "Even though I think it is more fun for you to hunt me down after." He winked at her once more. Was he being too flirty with her, he thought. Rawiri just couldn't help himself anymore.
"Um... Almost" His face in ponder mode. "Never." he turned his head towards her as they started to walk along the muggle streets. Rawiri took his eye off Leah once to look around him. He never much adventured into the muggle world not because of any reason, he just never thought to come here until now. "Ya, You are right." he let a laugh leave his lips. It was almost the same, but just no magic.
The feeling of her soft hand grabbing his made his stomach flutter once more. What was this feeling? He had never felt this before with anyone he dated in the past. Of all the people why Leah Silvias made him feel this way.
"Ah, one of these contraptions." He looked in the window with the moving pictures on the screen. It was almost like the portraits in school, but these weren't alive. "I think I remember, but a lot has gone on from then." He did not remember much from his classes like muggle studies, but he didn't want to admit that.
Rawiri watched Leah's movement and how she seemed so excited to be watching the moving picture machines. There she was again, biting her cute lip, and the glow of the light made her look even more beautiful than she was. Rawiri, as he watched her smile, was just captive how she was feeling being back in the muggle world.
He was sad to see it go as she reminisced about her family. Rawiri had forgotten that The Ministry had her under lock and key, and she wasn't able to see much of anyone really. His smile turned too half, and he turned his head to the TV as she asked him about his family. "Oh, you know, just your average magically family. Loving mom and dad, we kept to the magical world, not because we didn't like muggles, but just because we never found a reason to go." He shrugged his shoulders, placing his hands in his pockets.
He thought he brought up the movie to change the mood from talking about families. "I've never seen a muggle, what do you call it again...?" he took his right hand out of his pockets, placing it on his lip. "Moving pictures, right?" He then pointed at her waiting for her to confirm if he was right or wrong. "Maybe you can show me one sometime?" He was unsure if they had the time to see one tonight. After all, he wanted to spend time with her more than ever, but he knew he had to have her back before good old Nate found out she was gone.
"Yeah. That, well..." It's not something she liked to admit. Normally, she wouldn't admit it to Rawiri mainly because as youngins he would have shouted as much in public to embarrass her but alas here they were. "I really shouldn't have but The Ministry pulled some strings to see to it I would be on the pitch come Quidditch season." There was some embarrassment in her confession as well as shame. It wasn't something she was proud of. There was a lot that she wasn't. "C'mon, you knew me back then. It wasn't like I exactly applied myself." She gave an almost sickly sounding laugh showing how forced it was as she tried to make light of the matter. "Maybe if I had I wouldn't be where I am now." Good for nothing and useless when not on a broom. Still, probably something she shouldn't tell Rawiri. It would either worry him or he would taunt her about it later.
"It's not a compliment. It's a statement. Very different." She fibbed but there was a strange underlying gentleness to it. And there they were both smiling at each other and - had she heard wrong? He liked making her happy? That was nice to hear. Nice that someone actually wanted her to be happy and not something from her. Not yet anyways.
"I have, in our time of knowing each other, used a great assortment of words. Never those." Another little fib. Even when he was being a smarmy brat he was always interesting. "We'll see. I would like to be wrong once in my life." She gave him a little wink. She had been wrong a lot of course but never once did she ever openly admit it. Was he blushing? At the way he rubbed the back of his head as if flustered she felt her chest go light. That little habit was incredibly adorable and she liked that she had managed to get the sheepish behavior out of him. Catch him off guard. She'd like to do more of it. Challenge accepted.
"I guess I rarely get to see that side of you. You must save it for all of the other girls." She shrugged, briefly turning away to look at their surroundings and take it all in but also so not to look at him because he would see she was a little disappointed. As much of a tomboy as she was it would have been nice to be a girl in his eyes. Wait? What? Push that way down, Silvias. Way, way, way down. "Dummies that they are." Another joke. Normally she would have been harsher, said something like morons, idiots, or a curse word. The fact that she said something childish like 'dummies' was so very telling to those who knew her best. She was going easy on him.
If Rawiri was being flirty with her she didn't notice. She never picked up on that sort of thing. Anything she dished out she saw as him either actually being friendly or still, maybe, trying to trick her into screwing up (she couldn't help but have trust issues). Still, she hoped it was the former. It was nice to have someone to talk to and spend time with even if it was just talking to him about television sets and old films. Turning to look at him she noticed he wasn't looking at the tv but on her. Eyes widening some, their eyes met, and she quickly looked away praying that her cheeks didn't redden and if they did maybe she could blame it on the crisp air.
"Maybe someday you can bring them?" She offered, now noticing his hands in his pockets and how he reserved he looked. This was unlike the cartoon character of the nemesis she once knew. This was a man. And... it seemed... a good one.
"- A movie?" She finished his sentence, elation in her voice. "You've never seen one?" Though normal for the wizarding world it still caught her off guard. "I can loan you some for sure. My owl can carry at least two. I used to swap with Silvestri, you know him, my team's Captain, all of the time. Like a book club but with movies. Ferrell's used to lugging dvds around. We'd have to find you a VHS or dvd player though." Stopping her own excitement before she got too carried away she caught the look on his face, it was like he was just watching her, and she felt herself shrink a little and a butterfly flutter in her chest. "Do you want to see one now?" Taking off she turned to gesture toward him. "C'mon. There has to be one around here somewhere." And one there was.
Lucky for them Leah made a habit of carrying some muggle money around and after paying had secured them two tickets for IT as it was the only thing showing in a few minutes. Unfortunately for her, she hated scary movies, but it wasn't like she needed to tell him that. She was a tough cookie and she could definitely carry that guise through one stupid movie showing... except no she couldn't.
Ten minutes in she was looking away from the screen and had her hand over her eyes clearly horrified. "See? Fun." She forced out in a quiet voice to him, the strain in it showing she was having anything but, but she would tough it out for him.
"Well, you don't think you are the only one, do you?" Rawiri smiled at how she told him the Ministry helped her with her grades and graduation. Rawiri was also quite bad at getting grades when he was in school. He knew all he wanted to do was quidditch, and it was, after all, Rawiri Tibble. Rawiri did well what Rawiri wanted.
"I mean, we were kids and in love with the game. You can always practice with Nate if you want to get better, and Hey, even I still do practice." He wasn't shy about telling anyone that. Even though Rawirir acted like he was the greatest, he still knew he needed to be better at things.
"Ah, you can't blame yourself, Silvias." He was blunt with her. "The thing that happened..." He placed his hand out, moving them up and down to express how much it wasn't her fault. "No one could ever prepare, not even the greats." It was true no one ever expected to be attacked, and even if you were the best at magic did not mean you would win.
Rawiri let out a little laugh. "It must be killing you inside, Silvias, huh?" he gave her a wink about her complimenting him. "To give me a compliant. You know I'll never let you live it down." Of course, he was joking, but he was delighted she had given him a complaint. It meant something to him. After all, he got compliments all the time, but that was because he was a star, not because of himself.
"Hey, we never really sat down like civilized people to get to know each other." From what he remembered in school, they were fighting or teasing, mostly Rawiri. They never really got to know each other until they behaved. "Ha, they kind of are dummies." He joked back with her about the girls. He would say most of the women who threw themselves at him had no substance, Which Rawirir was okay with that. He had never taken them seriously or even had a serious relationship. He just wasn't in the mood to have one, and most of the time, he thought about the game.
Rawiri watched on, and by watching, that meant Watching Leah. From her movements to how to talk. He was amazed at how different she was from how he saw her in school. Why did he start feeling something after all those wasted years?
"Oh, my parents" he took one hand out of his pocket to point at himself in surprise. Rawiri let out a little chuckle. "I don't know, and I've never taken any to hang with my parents. If my mother sees you, she might ask you to marry me?" He laughed, knowing his mother full well would just do that. "She might even ask when we're having kids since Rawiri never brings just anyone to visit." He smiled at her knowing full well what he was doing.
"Is that what they're called. Huh, I like moving pictures so much more." He places his hand in a regular position, trying to memorize the screens they were looking at. "Nope, never. After all, you are talking to a wizard whose family doesn't know much of muggle life." he smiled, being entirely honest with her.
"That sounds like quite fun. I would enjoy that." he smiled at the thought of Leah sending him owls with a movie but to be honest, he just loved the idea of Leah sending him movies she loved.
"Oh, right now?" before he could answer, she was on the hunt to find him a muggle movie to watch. He walked towards her, following her behind. "I guess I can't say no then?" he joked with her as they walked.
Rawiri crawled up in his seat, looking to the side and squinting his eyes. Wow, did muggle has a crazy and scary imagination. He finally opened his eyes to look at Leah. "So fun" he gave a fake smile. He did not know if he ever wanted to see another muggle film after this. "How much more time do we have?" he asked her, unaware he could make it through such a horrifying film.
"You're just trying to make me feel better." She reached out giving him a playful shrug. Even if he was this was something she took stock of. Since when did Rawiri try and make her feel better? Just a few months prior he would have actually tried to make her feel even worse. This was a notable development and one that she was doing her absolute best not to read too into... and was failing.
"I don't think any amount of practice could help me." She admitted with a shrug, slipping her hands into her skirt's pockets. "Even Zimmer, as patient as the man is and that's saying a lot, knows when to cut his losses with me. I just don't have the talent for it. Really all magical things are lost on me except for Quidditch... Thank, god." But why? Without Quidditch she would still be with her family in the muggle world blissfully unaware... and she wouldn't know Rawiri. Perhaps that was part of the rub. "But that's why I'm stuck at Hogwarts, isn't it?" With a knowing glint in her eye she smiled at Rawiri with a wink. "Or at least I'm supposed to be." But no. The two of them decided to do their usual and cause trouble. Shirk the status quo and do... whatever it was that they were doing. Did she even know?
When he too referenced to his screaming fan girls as dummies a part of her felt hopeful that he felt that way. That there wasn't any attachment. Another part of her wanted to chastise him for calling women dumb. Women could do that (though they shouldn't). Not dudes and certainly not ones who chose to sleep with them. If that's what he was doing... Really she didn't want to even think on it and, yet, she couldn't help it. Frowning she pushed those curiosities as far down as she could manage.
"You know, one day you might start liking one of those dumb girls if you're not careful." She warned lightly. Why did she say that? Why did she put that out into the ether? That isn't what she wanted to happen!... For whatever reason. "Me?" At his comment about his mom her eyes widened slightly. "Oh, no. I don't think so. One look at me and she'll know I'm trouble. No kids. Remember?" She referred to their previous conversation on the pitch. Again trying to lighten the mood with the lie. She did want kids, deep down, but knew she would be shit at raising them. She couldn't even teach them!
"Nope. You can never say no to me. Have you not picked that up yet?" She announced to him with a cheeky grin, walking backwards toward the movie theater which would eventually traumatize them both.
"See? Told you." Ugh, she would pretend like she enjoyed the movie since it was his first experience. She wanted him to have a good time since she had hyped it up so much. "Rawiri..." Peeking out from behind her fingers she noticed that he was doing the same, deliberately trying to miss most of the film. They looked like mirror images sitting next to each other. Quite the pair! "It's just the first fifteen minutes..." As scared as she was she couldn't help but smile, and even laugh, especially with how he was balled up in his seat. A full-grown, tough guy Quidditch player! She giggled so loudly in fact that she snorted resulting in someone a few rows in front of them to loudly shush her.
Scooching down in her seat, a blush on her cheeks but still stifling a laugh behind her gloved hands she looked at Rawiri, whispering to him. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was gonna be like this... I hate scary movies." She confessed, actually opening up to him and actually, well, smiling. She looked happy for once. "I'll send you better ones." She settled on that idea after catching herself smiling like an idiot looking at his face a little longer than she should have, she swallowed it down and looked away. "Do you want to go? Don't worry... I'll tell everyone you watched the whole thing."
"Maybe," Rawiri shrugged his shoulders. "Or," he lifted his arm, pointing his index finger, "I could be being honest with you. But it doesn't hurt to try to make you feel better." He placed his hand down, thinking how only a week ago he was insulting her, and now he was praising her? It felt bizarre indeed.
"You got to stop doubting yourself, Leah." It was the first time he ever said her name, not Silvias; he could not believe it. His cheeks turned light red, but he kept on. "You excellent at Quidditch, you always were, and that takes a lot of magically practice to be the best." Rawiri was doing his best to cheer Leah. He would not say it out loud but thought Leah was a brilliant witch even in school. Rawiri let out a soft chuckle. "I supposed. It's a bit ironic that you got to go back there." He shot over a smile at her. "What you are talking about were at Hogwarts now. I never took you out," Rawiri said, joking with her about him taking her out of Hogwarts. "See, I'm practicing just in case someone finds out." Rawiri couldn't help but smile again at the beautiful redhead in front of him.
"Ah, I don't think so. I would have probably been married to one of them by now, but I got this heart locked and sealed for someone special." He took his fingers and crossed his heart. He never found substance with anyone he went on a date with, and Wasn't anything there to fill him mentally. And he was sure they were only on the date for statues. Rawiri wanted to share it with someone who wasn't afraid to talk back to him, someone that would keep his mind challenged. Someone like...Leah? No, don't think that Tibble. You have only been out once; it is not even an actual date.
"Ha, trust me, I think you are more scared of her than she would be of you." His mother was an adamant woman; when she wanted something, she pursued it. Especially wanting grandchildren, she would embarrass him on dates. That's when he stopped, bringing them around his mother. "Haha, I am learning as we go." He agreed with her as she pulled him along.
Rawiri looked up at her when she called his name in his little pull. Her face looked comforting, something he never thought he would think. "I know, but this is scary. Why are muggles good at writing terrifying things." He whispered to her. Rawiri heard a big boom from the screen and covered his face. He looked back at her and smiled. She seemed so happy, and he couldn't help but look at her lovely red checks. Even the way the movie light hit her made her more stunning. Rawiri shook off the thought as much as he could. There was no way Leah Silvias was making Rawiri Tibble feel this way. They were supposed to be rivals, and now he didn't understand what was now with her.
When someone shushed them, he turned his head to them and then her and let out a little giggle. "Maybe we should finish it at your or my place sometime." He suggests, "That's why we can scram as loudly as we want. He winked at her and scooted down his seat with her. "You hate scary movies, and you thought, 'Hey, let's take Rawirir to see this for his first movie.'" He started to crack up in a whispered tone. "You better you own me know Leah." He turned his head towards hers and winked. "No, No, I can't bail on my first movie. That be lame." He whispered to her. He wasn't going to run off from his first film scared. What would he say to his friends! When she said she wouldn't tell anyone, he took his chance. "Ya, let's get out of here before I walk out with a black eye and wet pants, haha!" He said, getting up from his chair and walking them out.
"So, How about we get some dinner? What do you think? Know any great places around her." He asked her as he walked backward, excited to eat with her.
"I guess because we don't have magic we have to come up with some in our heads." She offered still peering at him behind her fingers. She couldn't help but smile despite how scared she was if only because he looked so adorable peering back at her through his own... Wait a second! She had to get out of that mindset fast. "Looks like you'll have a whole new reason to be afraid of me when I'm back on the pitch. This muggle noggin of mine." She teased him pointing to her head as they were once again were shushed by someone in the crowd and both slipped further down in their seats snickering. It felt like they were teens again - only this time they actually got along!
Wait. Had he just invited her to his place? Like... they would hang out beyond today? As in... he wanted to spend time with her... at his residence?! No. He was just being kind which was a new setting for him as it were. He was probably still getting his bearings with her. "Yeah... I'd like that..." Her answer came in a somewhat stunned, quiet voice. Apparently she was getting her bearings with him too.
"I'm not from this area in particular but... Since this is a day of trying new things... How about sushi?" She followed him outside of the theater, hands in her skirt pockets as she walked. If she had to wear a skirt, even a borrowed one, it had to have pockets or it was no deal. "I love it but it is most definitely a muggle thing. Not an American thing either but I could eat it every day if someone would let me." It was also raw fish but surely as a wizard Rawiri had far more exotic things. This would be harmless, right? "You scared?" She took a step toward him as he walked backwards in a playful challenge, just missing him and fell back in pace.
"So earlier... What you said..." Ugh why did she have to push? Why did she even want to know? Her mind was thinking about earlier. Before they had even set foot to watch that horrifying movie. When he had called her Leah. Not Lee, or Silvias, or Leah Silvias, or hey you... but Leah. Her name. She should be used to hearing it by now but not from his mouth. Not accompanied by his cheeky smile and light blush that she was certain that she spotted faintly even on his tanned cheeks. It was the same sort of cheeriness and, dare she think, fondness that he was sporting right now as he walked backward chatting with her. Not even a trip would slow him as once he set out to do something he saw it through. This too caused her smile to grow.
"You've never even been engaged?" Oh gosh, that came off wrong. So did everything she said when she wasn't talking about Quidditch. "What I mean is... not even close? What I mean is... ugh..." She sighed as she walked, briefly looking down at her converse sneakers. "It's just you always seem to have someone on your arm. A debutante, one of the elite, a model of some sort or other... You act like you're a player but even players have feelings." It was then she looked back up at him. "Even player Quidditch players." A small smile pulled at her lips, trying so hard not to appear overly nosy or jealous.
"Don't tell your mom I took you to that movie." She warned him playfully, scrunching up her nose as if trying to convince him that the threat was real and also trying to not so expertly change the subject.
"I'll make sure my players stay out of your path," Rawiri said, joking with her. Rawiri let out a snicker when they were silenced again. "I think we best leave before we get our asses kicked by some muggles." He was sure that the people shushing would kill the two of them soon if they did not stop talking, but who in their right mind was enjoying this film anyway?
"Good because I don't if I couldn't take the heartbreak of you saying no. Especially after you made me watch that scary film that will never leave my mind." He was almost spewing out words to make up for saying she broke his heart if she would say no. Never, never did Rawiri think he would ask her to come over. He did not ask most of his, if not all, his dates to come back with him. There was just something he enjoyed at Leah. Maybe it was the fact she wasn't all over him, and she defiantly did not suck up to him like most. She treated him like an average person, not fawning all over him or faking laughing. For once, someone made him feel like he could be himself.
"Oh, that sounds good to me." He had agreed to get Sushi with her even though he did not know what it was. "Me, scared?" He kept walking backward. "Now, Silvias, you should know your old captain isn't afraid of anything!" He winked at her hoping to see the redhead smile again. "You can open my eyes to what Sushi is also."
He turned his body back forwards, placing his hand in his pockets along with her. "Pretty blunt, huh? " He chuckled, bumping into her shoulder about asking about him being engaged. "Not once." he shrugged his shoulders as he continued to walk down the road. "I know with all the people on my arm, and you think I would have found someone, eh?" You think one person would have stuck with all the people that came in and out of Rawiri's life. It just never did...well, maybe until now.
Rawiri placed his hand on his heart "Ah, that stings my heart! I have feelings tisk Leah. It's not like you know me at all." All he could do was a joke with her about his love life. "This Quidditch player, player, is that right?" He gave her a look, noticing how sweet she looked. "Has a bad love life." He looked forward, not taking his talk too seriously. "What about you?" He asked, curious. "No tall, handsome stranger took you, heart?" Rawiri just wanted to hear her say no because he would be a bit jealous if she did.
"Oh, I promise I won't also long as you come to finish the movie with me." She was cute when she scrunched up her nose he noticed as he black-mailed her.
"Good thing that I didn't say no then. Don't want to be responsible for your demise." She offered with a wry yet bashful little smile that she just couldn't help. Heartbreak if she said no? She knew deep down he was only fooling with her. Rawiri was joking around like he always did. Trying to get a reaction out of her. It had always been their weird little game that only the two of them ever understood. It worked for them even if no one else got it. Somehow the two of them did. Or at least she thought she did. She couldn't say for sure what was going on now. A lot of confusing things only on her part for sure.
"You've never had it?" Uh oh. This had decent potential to be strike 2/3 of the evening. Hopefully he would like it. Or maybe, most likely, he would just find her so truly bizarre that this would be the first and last time that they spent together one on one willingly. "Before tonight is over Rawiri, I'll even teach you to be a decent and charming human being." She teased, giving him her own little bump with her shoulders on his upper arm (due to the height difference). Smiling, quite pleased with herself, she continued walking her own hands in her pockets mirroring him as they walked alongside each other. This was mainly because she found herself with the strange and foreign urge of wanting to hold his hand which was, of course, utter insanity and needed to be quelled immediately.
At his admission of never having been married a part of her found some relief, though minimal. Just because he wasn't married or hadn't been didn't mean that he had never been in love or wasn't currently taken with someone. Still, for now she could pretend it was a little win. She needed one lately.
"What about you?"
"Me?" The question had clearly caught her by surprise. "No. Not at all." She shook her head out of panic. "I mean, there was someone, ages ago... But that didn't really work out..." Because he became a drunk that couldn't handle her being more successful and had hit her but yeah... She would glaze over that. "I think I had my shot. Ruined it." Best to keep the complicated simple. He would be repulsed if he knew the details or knew the intimacies. She was a mess. "I don't think that my heart can be taken." Except, you know, by you. "It's too... broken into bits." Well that was depressing, but knowing the old Rawiri he'd probably find it hilarious. "Nobody would ever bother to like me in that way anyways." Her cheeks turned crimson again and she was relieved that she could blame it on the crispness in the air if pressed.
"I guess we're just two broken schmucks huh?" She looked up at him with a sad but trying to make light of things smile. "But we are two schmucks who will finish that movie." And somehow, that provided her a strange sense of comfort. He was cute she noted, when he blackmailed her.
