Harry Potter:"Do you really think there's going to be a war, Sirius?"
Sirius Black: "It… feels like it did before."
TURN ON THE LIGHT is a Post- Potter roleplay that takes place twenty-five years after the Second Wizarding War.
We welcome canon and original characters in this (currently) sandbox style roleplay.
They way they both worked you'd need a guys night night out now and again. Damon knew Maxwell from the times he ended up being treated in St Mungo's but while he was no healer he still brought the potions up to the aurors beds. He also needed to be told of certain medical conditions in case of potion allergies. He'd been through all that in Hogwarts when the hospital wing knew what he was but other suspected.
So that was how he'd figured out without seeing the confidential files that they shared the same lunar problem. Then confided in Maxwell just as he'd done with Delaney. It probally was better in life to know there was other people like you. That was the beginning of support.
You did get to know the aurors and this evening at least he hoped Maxwell could make it. Unless Maxwell was out on a case. Damon didn't do fancy events but food, drink and entertainment he could do. He even brewed his own beer but it was easier in a tavern. The Leaky Cauldron was the kind of place that crossed all the boundaries of the wizarding world as well as being the gateway to people from the muggle world who needed to know about it.
Usually when Maxwell met Damon the auror was battered and blue. Whether it being from the moon or because he rushed into battle during a mission again. Today he managed to stay in one piece rather well. As he wasn’t meeting Damon in St. Mungo’s but in the Leaky.
Maxwell joined the other man, fashionably barely on time, a big goofy grin written on his face. His cowboy boots clicked against the wooden floor of the in as he walked towards his buddy. “Howdy, Damon, Ah knew you couldn’t resist to ask me on a date much longer,” he messed with the healer and patted him on his shoulder as he sat down. “Unfortunately for you, the shirt will stay on as Ah'm injury free,” he said, sounding a little too proud about something that should be the staple.
Damon seen Maxwell make his entrance and laughed slightly in response. A persons sexual preferences wasn't something people should't be worked up about in the first place. He was about live and let live in all things as well. Some people weren't as enlightened as Damon so a stand did have to be made at times.
He did find it slightly surprising Maxwell didn't find a mission to go on before he got here but tonight it about them and dinner. "Yeah, I admit it" he chuckled back adding "So you want drinks or food first? Or get both at the same time?" He handed a menu to Maxwell so he could have a look at what was on today. Damon had tankards of beer in mind but he could also do spirits and shots.
"Still being a superhero?" he posed. The concept was just as valid in the wizarding world as in the muggle one. Maxwell was like the warrior wizard you had in stories and fantasy novels.
"Well ain't ya lucky I picked dinner with an old friend over the several ladies and gentlemen wishing to go on a date," he grinned at his own joke. Thing was Maxwell could easily find a date or one night adventure, it were relationships where he struggled. Especially when it came to his condition and past. So he ended up marrying his work, like a lot of people his age seemed to be doing right now.
"We can get a drink while we wait for the food to come in and get a second one when dinner arrives," he suggested, never saying no to a drink. Something that had caused much troubles before. He took the menu from Damon and went through it, knowing fully he'd end up ordering the same thing as always. "What were you thinkin'?"
He chuckled at his friend's remark. "It's just called doin' mah job, Damon. Ah ain't no hero," he shook his head. "If anythin' you're the one makin' people better."
Damon had a feeling tonight was going to be fun and chance for them both to blow of steam. Damon found with being so busy he had the same problem as Maxwell. However he found he didn't miss dates, romance or relationships of that type that much. There was occasional flirtations with the idea and some encounters in reality but nothing that would last a night. The relationships he had were solid; that included Maxwell and Delaney so he guessed that made a support network for them.
" I guess I'm lucky then. I might even have seen the downcast faces getting here" he chuckled back. They made an odd pair even with the St Mungos and law enforcement combination that stretched back to the establishment of the hospital.
Damon figured the hog roast was the best way forward for him and then heard the posed question. "I'm thinking about slow roasted Hog Roast. With apple sauce, turnip and roast potatoes. Along with a tankard of Irondrake" he mused. It was a typical wizarding beer and he brewed his own; so had something to compare his efforts to. This selection was middle of the road.
He also smiled hearing the compliment. "I'll also pass that onto Delaney. I make the potions and she gets them to the people who need them" he cheerfully added. Healthcare was a team effort and in the muggle world he'd have been a pharmacist. Overlooked by most even there but a vital job all the same. Back in this world his skills also made life much easier for the three of them as he also brewed their wolfsbane.
