THE CHARACTER
PERSONALITY
Paz would give off the very quiet, maybe even shy individual at a party. But, that’s just it, she’s at a party. Paz much prefers small group activities if necessary, but greatly prefers one-on-one conversation. There’s less overwhelming stimulation when it’s one-on-one. In fact, did you see when Paz left the party? Did she say goodbye to anyone?
Her circle of close friends is very tight. But, she’s there for family. Her family gave her freedom to explore and be herself. She was able to dress herself, pick her own interests, and she was able to just fully be who she was, a luxury she know her mother fought for because of she did not have the same luxury growing up.
If you do get the pleasure of being in Paz’s inner circle, you’ll find how talkative and coy she can be. Sarcasm is a love language, and we would apologize if we thought it was a problem. In a different life, she would be the life of a party, and she is when it’s a party of two. She’s spontaneous, adventurous, inquisitive, and sees rules as bendable. So, you may end up in some interesting situations.
HISTORY
Her mothers, yes plural, you’re welcome, were very strong individuals. Born to the great Reyes and Santiago clan of Spain, her pureblood roots might have meant something if her mother had one, stayed married to the father, or two, been straight to begin with. As archaic as it was, the Santiagos married her mother off to unite the Reyes clan. Something about owning the most goats, she was told, though it seems like a childhood lie.
Her mother, though, hated the arrangement. She made life so difficult for her Reyes husband that he left without a word, and then the nearly widowed woman - at least mentally widowed - filed the divorce papers, changed her daughters last name back to Santiago, and moved from Spain to the United Kingdom. Best part was, because he up and left, he technically broke the marriage contract and so the two could easily live off his monthly stipend.
It wasn’t long before her birth mother met Paz’s other mom: Chloe Aaberg. While anyone who knows Chloe knows that she can be a bit unhinged, brash, and jealous, this worked out just fine for the pair of them. Plus, Paz has very fleeting memories of the before Chloe times. She was only two when they met and married, all within 3 months. Everyone thought Chloe was the quintessential gold digger, after the family money, after the Reyes money even, but here they are doing their own thing 19 years later.
The house ran in artistic chaos, having one mom who was a painter and another who was floating from hobby to hobby made it an interesting household. It also was the household the cousins tended to come to, most of all Billy Malcolm, since he was closest in age to her and came from a mostly single mother household. It wasn’t that her uncle didn’t exist, he just was traveling for work and not around as much. If Paz had any input, Chloe was more of a father figure growing up than Taj, but she’d never say that out loud.
Her freedom led her to invent things early in life. First without magic, playing with muggle science the way any inventor child would. Then, with potions. When she went to Hogwarts, she was sorted into Slytherin, likely because of that clevermanipulation ambition she’d inherited from her birth mother.
As Paz went to school she gained the skills to create even bigger inventions, so naturally she continued this into her adult life. Instead of working for anyone in particular, she works for who she chooses and when she wants. Her schedule is her own, her inventions are in collaboration, but hers, and she still could live on Daddy’s monthly payment if needed. Oh yes, mother set up the contract well, that’s a lifelong payment.
