THE CHARACTER
Liana was always a go with the flow kid. Some might assume it was just her nature to explore and take the world in as it happened. But, it was a coping mechanism. We wouldn't call it trauma per say… that said, her existence and family life was so very hectic there was almost no other option for her own sanity.
Liana never lived with her biological parents. Instead she was raised by her Uncles, Tate Lawson and Noel Lawson. Before she was even born, her parents, who maybe for better, had already gotten a divorce. Caleb Blackwood and Kitty Lawson had what the books might call a whirlwind romance. They met in her Uncle's nightclub over a drink and were married within a few months time. A year later, on their anniversary, Mum served Dad divorce papers. Apparently "it was the right thing to do." Liana has always been suspicious of this story, but she figures she will get the truth when her parents are older and less lucid.
Being raised by her Uncles did not mean her parents were absent in her life. Her father constantly came by between his work trips and brought her corny little trinkets from his travels. He was a curse breaker, and would tell her the most fantastical stories. There was this one he swore was true that happened in Borneo. It sounded more like a stolen story from Indiana Jones than real, but apparently that jungle became very special to Caleb and his second wife Rachel. Borneo might be the whole reason her family is so big. Her mother also traveled for work in antiques. But when she was home she was always around. She practically lived with them when she was home or Liana would stay at her home.
There was a lot of love surrounding her always. Her Uncle's who watched her grow day by day, her birth parents, Caleb's partner Rachel, her son Dimitri who was immediately like an older brother, and the children that followed her, the twins Jace and Kristina.
Liana was only a few years older than the twins, so they got along like three peas in a pod. They were constantly around each other, feeding off one another's energy and ideas. As they grew and started to form more of their own opinions it led the three of them to find their own passions while still holding a strong bond. To say Liana was definitely the cool older sibling vibe may have been an understatement.
At school, she was highly respected for her whit and charm. She was good at classes and better on a quidditch pitch. She knew people across houses and didn't discriminate because of the status of anyone. She came from a mixed and queer family herself so the last thing she was going to do was create prejudice to someone for existing. That however didn't mean that Liana couldn't be manipulative if she needed to be. She was resourceful and calculated which could be a benefit or a hindrance depending on how she used her skills. Overall though she was well respected and well liked.
It was also in school that she and Jace developed a really tight bond. Separated from the rest of the siblings in Slytherin meant they had much more time together than with the other kids. It was probably why they remained close throughout life, texting and calling one another for all the major, the minor, and the boring events of their lives.
These attributes and relationships favored her well when she entered the real world. Upon graduation Liana had multiple paths she could have chosen. One of those was quidditch. As a star player on the Slytherin team she made an excellent chaser. And, for a few years she did so professionally as well. While she had a great time playing, her side art interest continued to grow. One of her specialties was painting quidditch match moments captured in film. And these became a great commodity to soar her art career into the professional world. In this, she stepped down to play reserve, so she could still have the thrill of the game, but could take her own photos to paint from.
Her charisma and talent worked well in the art world. For as long as Liana could remember she had been painting. It started with some fingerprints her "Dad's" had gotten her and developed into as many mediums as she could contain. Her notes and books always contained doodles and sketches she completed during courses.
In a lot of ways her career paths followed both her birth parents. She was a collector in nature, like her mother, cheating moments in her art. She was also an adventurer like her father, seeking the thrill of a quidditch game and longing for the adrenaline rush. She also was a product of the men who raised her: artistic, creative, and unpredictable.
