THE CHARACTER
The Bones family was a traditionally neutral one, leaning towards "light," whatever that meant. They had no particular qualms with muggles and even intermingled with them regularly, and when it came to the Wizarding War in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s they were staunchly on the side of the Order of the Phoenix. All of this knowledge? Public. Well known, even. This was, of course, true of the English branch most notably. The German branch? More of a wild card. Not so staunchly pureblood as some families but more so than the English branch of the family.
Vitalia Iona Bones? She was born to the German branch.
Not so much a bad thing, just ... different.
She was an only child, born to her parents in England and reared and schooled their as well, contrary to her parents own upbringing in Germany and what would have been her own upbringing. Such graces that she attended Hogwarts instead of Durmstrang. Hogwarts was more ... liberal, overlooked certain things that Durmstrang wouldn't dream to.
A girl with a tendency towards staring into space, daydreaming they said, and spouting nonsense on ocassion.
She once told her parents that it was best she went to Hogwarts; otherwise she would've scarred her future husband for life.
(Vitalia never had any particular patience or time for boys, for all the time she spent staring into space there was never many that caught her fancy. They tended to find her intimidating and in turn Vitalia thought the majority of them were sniveling worms. If they couldn't meet her eyes when she got ... grumpy, or serious, then they weren't worth her breath.)
They ... knew, the girl was a seer, had to be. It didn't change much, this wasn't the sort of thing that you reported to anyone but the Family Head of House. If you dared to even let it out of the direct family. But, Bones didn't tend to throw seers and the girl needed some sort of guidance so she didn't go mad, didn't she?
So she got handed a stack of dusty tombs to work her way through since there was no living seer to teach her. There were ghosts in the old family home back in Germany that she asked questions from time to time but they tended to avoid her when they could. Too many pointed questions about their past lives and sneers when she got her answers. Rarely did those who linger have any significant tales to tell.
She was sorted into Ravenclaw, back when she started at Hogwarts. Her brain was the only reason she made it through classes when her powers disrupted her. She studied, and read, and learned mostly outside of class because there were few other options for her. Not like she could give an excuse to the professors without outing herself. Add the fact that her sternest professors liked to hand out detentions for "daydreaming" and "not listening" ... she made do.
Graduation came and Vitalia finally met her husband; Emil Meyer, arranged by their family theirs was not a love match but rather to potentially multiply the seer abilities in their combined bloodlines.
He took her last name.
Meanwhile, Vitalia was training with the English Branch to take up the Wizengamot seat once she was older and working her way up in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes.
Eventually, children were expected.
Vitalia gave birth to twins; Astraea and Timeous Bones.
The babies were something that she ... hadn't expected for all that she had seen them and known them. The late nights, screaming and feedings - multiplied by two. A nanny was quickly enlisted and Vitalia tried to maintain some sense of normalcy while also being ... motherly. Bonding became easier as they became mobile but for all that she would go to great lengths for her children; they were never as close as they could have been.
Her responsibilities to the family fulfilled Vitalia grew ... tired? Bored? Over? Her husband, though they stayed together as expected for the children there was an understanding that as long as they were never caught they were quite free to do as they wished. There had never been any love there, after all, and Vitalia was a practical woman. There was no use sticking to ... whatever vows of fidelity there had been. If there had been.
At 43, upon the unfortunate passing of her predecessor Vitalia was promoted to the Head of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes.
At the age of 45 Vitalia took over the Wizengamot seat of the Bones family in England and began presiding regularly in the courts.
At the age of 49 Vitalia finally divorced her husband, the children finally out of school and figuring out their own lives. Though, at this point their parents had been barely living with each other for years. It wasn't as if the split came out of nowhere.
Now, Vitalia is heaped in power in the prime of her life and ready to mingle.
