Once upon a time things were idyllic. He's known Natalia for as long as he can remember, that one girl from just up the hill. The one who he'd hold hands and skip stones with every summer even after she went off to private school. The one that he shared his first kiss with. Sweethearts, that's what they were. They got together while they were still in high school, stayed together after graduation - long after graduation. She was the one who opened his eyes to magic, but they were the most magic together. At least until their two little girls came into the world. She worked. At first he admired her for it, her perseverance even if Quidditch wasn't his game. But sitting in family box during matches with their girls wasn't the same as her spending time with their family. She was never home, rarely home.
Eventually, it was just too much.
Fourteen years of marriage down the drain. It hurt more than anything that he could imagine but he had to do what was best for his girls. So, he got primary custody and Natalia came to visit when she could. Sometimes they still fall into bed with each other, but the wound is healing. He hopes one day she can pull herself together, at least for their daughters.
